Drunken Jitsu!

This is Roberto Gordo, half guard legend, demonstrating a high percentage half guard pass. It’s in Portuguese but the details are all there to be seen and it’s easy to follow. This is my half guard pass of choice, I use it all the time. The shoulder pressure you can get with the lapel looped under the arm pit is incredible. With practice you can make this a particularly brutal and unpleasant pass for the guy on the bottom.

Armbar from guard. Roger Gracie blackbelt, Nic Gregoriades, showing in great detail the straight armbar from guard. Really like the level of detail he goes into on this, while keeping it easy to follow. Definitely worth watching even if you think you have great armbars from the guard.

Here is a brief highlight reel of my first 18 months in jiu-jitsu. I was competing for Chris Rees Academy in all the clips, so figured it would be a nice time to put them all together, with me moving to London and training with Roger Gracie Academy now. Anyway, hope you enjoy. Oh, and the guy at the end with the pink bunny ears is Chris Rees, Braulio Estima brown belt :-)

Lagarto teaching a triangle from side control. I see this transition to triangle a lot from the mount position but not as much from side control but I think it works better (for me, anyway).

Who says kimuras can’t be flashy? Nice variation on the kimura here from Ricardo Cavalcanti. Helps get around those annoying strong guys who grip their gi to defend the traditional kimura.

Genius prank from the Gracie Academy. Rorion handles the situation like a pro! If this had happened to me I would probably have had a heart attack.

Here’s a beautiful video on Preston based BJJ Black belt Lagarto.

From the video “I believe that cancer happened in my life for two reasons. The first one, to make me stronger. And the second one, to help the guys, you know….”

Pure inspiration, courtesy of grapple videos.

Training with him at RGA in London at the moment. The guy is a legend!

bjjhacks.com break down some of the best moves from the Brasilieros this year, so you can actually look more closely at how they are applied. Really liked this, hope they do some more of it.

Awesome technique by Gui Mendes, hope it’s on next Mendes instructional. Skip to around 1:50 and look for the super sneaky passing of the lapel under the armpit during the repositioning. Love it! Not cheating if the ref doesn’t see, right?

The only Rodolfo Vieira highlight you’ll ever need. This guy’s top game is brutal and even as a 165 pounder hope to emulate one day. Safe training, safe travels, and a great weekend everyone!

He is a guard wrecking machine! Definitely gonna take some beating at the Mundials.
